Short Safaris
Depart from Arusha early in the morning after breakfast and head south toward Tarangire National Park, a journey of approximately two hours. As you enter the park, you’ll be greeted by sprawling savannahs dotted with ancient baobab trees and wildlife in every direction. Tarangire is renowned for its large herds of elephants, but you’ll also encounter lions, zebras, giraffes, and countless bird species. Enjoy a relaxed game drive with a picnic lunch near the Tarangire River, where animals gather to drink. Later in the afternoon, exit the park and drive to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater—a breathtaking caldera and one of the world’s greatest natural wonders. Spend the day exploring this enclosed ecosystem, which offers some of the best chances to see all of Africa’s “Big Five” in one place: lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard. The rich volcanic soil supports an astonishing variety of wildlife, from hippos wallowing in freshwater pools to flamingos dancing across the soda lake. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot inside the crater before ascending back to the rim and returning to Arusha in the late afternoon.
