Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your Arusha hotel. After a scenic drive of around 2 hours, you’ll enter Tarangire National Park, Tanzania’s sixth-largest park famed for its enormous elephant herds and towering baobab trees. The morning is spent game-driving through open savannahs, woodlands, and riverine landscapes.
After a picnic lunch in a scenic location within the park, continue your afternoon game drive, where you might encounter lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and over 500 bird species. The Tarangire River acts as a magnet for wildlife, especially during the dry season.
As the sun sets, exit the park and head to your comfortable lodge in Karatu. Enjoy dinner and relax in serene surroundings, preparing for another day of exploration.
After breakfast, drive to nearby Lake Manyara National Park, a compact but wildlife-rich destination nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Begin your morning game drive through diverse ecosystems—lush groundwater forests, open floodplains, and the lakeshore—where baboons, buffalo, and hippos thrive.
Keep an eye out for tree-climbing lions and the park’s famous pink flamingos that often line the edge of the alkaline lake. The park is also home to elephants, giraffes, and various primate species, making it a birder’s and photographer’s paradise.
After a picnic lunch and some final wildlife sightings, drive back to Karatu in the late afternoon. Enjoy a restful evening at the lodge, reflecting on the day’s experiences.
After an early breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater for a full morning of game viewing. This massive volcanic caldera shelters an astounding variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, zebras, hippos, and even the endangered black rhino.
The crater floor offers excellent chances to see all of the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino) within a few hours. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the hippo poolside, surrounded by the sounds and sights of nature in one of the world’s most unique settings.
After lunch, begin the scenic drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon. Your unforgettable 3-day lodge safari concludes with a drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
